Compost-making day at Bissiga.

ICS volunteers at APIL travelled to the agro-ecological centre based in Bissiga to make compost.

APIL volunteers have once again shown their commitment towards making a positive change both within the organisation and the local community. In fact, volunteers dedicated their time to create compost. Upon arrival, the team was warmly welcomed by Mr Simpore, the centre’s Director.  After exchanging greetings, the staff of the centre showed the team the main ingredients for the compost; namely manure dried leaves, Burkina phosphate powder, neem powder and ash. Volunteers split themselves into two groups in order to transport the materials. One group was in charge of transporting the manure, and the other dried leaves. For the next step, the compost was created in the hole that the previous cohort had dug, following the Director’s instructions. This compost will be used by the beneficiaries of the Agro-ecological centre.
